Q: Will Black Cloud work with my aftermarket choke?
A: Black Cloud FS Steel™ uses the proprietary FLITECONTROL™ wad-designed to leave the barrel with the shot to keep your pattern tight and get to the ducks quicker. For maximum performance we recommend using standard, factory chokes that do not strip the wad or reduce muzzle pressure. We are currently working with popular choke companies on new tubes specially designed for Black Cloud.
Q: Black Cloud sure looks great, but I bet it costs an arm and a leg. What is the price point of this ammunition?
A: This product is steel shot, so you won't pay tungsten prices and you'll get a full box of 25 rounds. Expect to see Black Cloud on the shelf for about the same price as Premium® steel.
Q: The FLITESTOPPER™ pellet sure looks nasty with that edge. Will my gun barrel be damaged?
A: Black Cloud FS Steel is designed for use with any shotgun that has a steel-rated barrel. And don't worry about the edge of the FS Steel pellet—it's not as sharp as it looks and the FLITECONTROL wad keeps from contacting the barrel. We don't recommend using it in a Damascus barrel, but you shouldn't have any worries with your Benelli SBEII or other modern shotgun.
Q: Why is there a mix of pellets instead of all FS Steel in this load?
A: Our engineering team is one sharp team. They spent a lot of time bruising their shoulders to test patterns—they found that the 40-60 mix of FS steel and Premium steel was just the right dose for the most consistent patterns on the market.
Q: Where is the 10 or 20-gauge offering?
A: Hey, go easy big fella'—this is year ONE of the Black Cloud reign and the overwhelming majority of waterfowlers use a 12-gauge. We start where the most people can get use out of our product, then look at new options for the next year. Hold tight, you never know what we'll do next. |
